The instrument

The Siel Expander EK-80 synthesiser module is an extension of the Siel DK-80 synthesiser. It was also marketed as the Suzuki SX-500. The EK-80 is a MIDI implementation that is controlled by a controller and automated in the DAW.

Details

The EK 80 handles 8 voices polyphony type DCO based on a custom SGS IC M112B1 which is also the VCA. The oscillator is a digitally controlled DCO which basically features 2 shapes: Square with 3 summable harmonics, Square at 16' / 8 ' / 4 ', Sawtooth. It can stack polyphony voices into 2 different DCO modes: Single with 1 DCO, 8 notes and pink noise, dual with 2 DCO, 4 notes with detune and pink noise. It has 40 preset sounds, 10 user sounds and 300 notes. (source: polynominal)
