Korg T2 Music Workstation 76-Key Keyboard
The instrument
In 1988, Korg introduced its workstation concept with the M1. The rack versions M1R and M1Rex followed shortly afterwards. One year later, the T series was launched: T1 with 88 keys, T2 with 76 keys, T3 with 61 keys. T2 and T3 were also available in an EX version. The T synthesizers differed only in the size of the keyboards. The M and T series achieved cult status and became bestsellers for Korg.
Details
The M and T series are based on the same synthesis principle: each single sound has one oscillator with three envelopes. The source material for the oscillators in the M1 and M1Rex is an 8MB sample ROM memory, which has been expanded to 16MB in the T models. The 3 envelopes control the temporal progression of the pitch, the volume and the non-resonant filter. Up to two LFOs can be used per voice. In double mode, these components are duplicated, but the maximum number of voices is halved.
The T2 Workstation includes a keyboard with 76 keys with velocity and aftertouch. It is 16x polyphonic, 8 parts multitimbral and provides 200 user patches and 100 memory locations for users. The ROM with 8MB at 16-bit resolution has 190 waveforms and 85 drum sounds. The sequencer memory holds 50,000 notes.
