The instrument

In addition to organs, Farfisa also produced electric pianos, string machines and multi-keyboards in the 1970s. The Polychrome String Combo Synthesiser appeared on the market in 1978. It was not very successful, although it was one of the best developed instruments of the time. It has four sections: percussive, strings, ensemble and chorus and a phaser. (source: Amazona)

Details

The Polychrome synthesiser has four sound generation sections: Percussive with the presets Piano, Hapsichord, Honky-Tonk, Clavichord, Electric Guitar and Classic Guitar as well as a Free mode for the settings Volume, Decay, Brilliance (filter cutoff) and Emphasis (filter resonance); Strings with Volume, Attack, Release, Brilliance and three foot positions; Ensemble with the presets Brass, Reed and Accordion as well as controls for Volume, Attack, Sustain and the resonance filter with Brilliance and Emphasis; Vocal Chorus with three foot positions to choose from and editable Volume, Attack, Sustain, Cutoff and Resonance with the Free button.
The phaser is adjustable for volume, emphasis, speed and tremolo for the strings, ensemble and percussion sections as well as for fast and slow. Double Octave doubles the sound generation and plays it an octave lower. A noise generator can be assigned to the Ensemble, Percussion and Phaser sections
