Crumar Multiman Piano and String Synthesizer
The instrument
The first Multiman was released in 1975. The developers combined a string machine with a simple polyphonic synthesiser for brass-like sounds and a bass and electric piano / harpsichord section. The structure of the analogue sound generation is similar to that of the Eminent Solina String Ensemble organ from 1974. Manufacturers such as ARP with its Quadra synth followed suit and also brought out multikeyboards. In 1977, the Crumar Multiman-S, a more powerful version of the Multiman, with additional string brightness slider and volume / brass pedal connections, came onto the market.
Details
The Crumar Multiman has a string section, a brass section (with VCF controls and resonance) and a piano section. A monophonic bass preset can be added. The sound generation is set up with a master oscillator, frequency divider circuit and three circuit boards with delays of the special string effect connected in parallel.
