The instrument
In 1979, Roland launches the smaller version SVC-350 as a 19’ rack at the same time as the VP-330 vocoder keyboard. This requires access to an external carrier signal from a keyboard or guitar.
Details
The SVC-350 gains access to a carrier signal via the instrument input, the level of which can be adjusted from -30 dB via -15 dB to 0 dB using a three-way switch, or the guitar input. The frequency section is used to regulate the volume of eleven filter bands in the same way as a graphic equaliser. In addition, the master volume and balance controls are located here to determine the ratio between the original input signal and the vocoder sound.
The SVC-350 has a headphone connection with its own volume control, a mono/stereo output for a mixing console or stereo amplifier, a mono output for a guitar amp and three inputs for footswitches. The sound can be fixed via the hold function and modulated via carrier.
