The DM Pro, which followed the DM5 and D4, is a drum machine with a collection of drum sounds that are played via the built-in trigger inputs either via MIDI or drum pads. It has six audio outputs with 20-bit digital-to-analog converters, 64-note polyphony and an effects block inherited from the Alesis Q20.

The DM Pro has 16 MB of preset sounds, 128 each of acoustic bass drums, electronic bass drums, acoustic snares, electronic snares, toms, hi-hats, cymbals, acoustic/ethnic percussion, electric percussion, special effects and melodic instruments. That's 1536 presets. A bank of 128 user sounds can be added. The drum kit includes 64 drum sounds and associated MIDI note numbers, trigger inputs and effect settings. The drum sounds can be edited in kit edit mode, for example tuned up or down by up to two octaves, and modified in drum edit mode in terms of pitch, volume, filter parameters and a series of envelopes with attack, decay, sustain, release, envelope delay and sustain decay.
