Multivox Hillwood MX-3000 Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer
The instrument
The Multivox MX-3000 was originally launched on the market as the Hillwood Firstman Pulser 85. Like other devices from these companies, it was taken over by Multivox for the American market.
The MX-3000 is a combination of 3 synths in one: A monophonic Bass Synth, a polyphonic Synth and a monophonic lead synth.
Details
The monophonic bass synth is capable of 3 kinds of bass-sounds: soft, medium & sharp, and only playable on the lowest 2 octaves. It has portamento with adjustable speed and can select 3 types of preprogrammed envelope generators: ADR, ADSR and Hold.
The polyphonic synth has a polyphony of 61 and contains 8 presets: Soft Bass, Wood, Brass, Reed, String, Piano, Honky Tonk & Harpsichord. It contains an LFO for VCO as well for VCF. The string section is similar to the ARP Quadra with a Divide Down Oscillator. The VCO contains a glide/bend function and LFO-modulation with delay is possible. The VCF contains CutOff, Resonance, EG-intensity and LFO Modulation. There are 2 preprogrammes EG-settings, ADR & ASR, an Ensemble-mode and a Fullrotor.
The monophonic lead synth is playable on the upper 3 octaves. The VCO contains of sawtooth, square, pulse, triangle waves and noise. LFO-modulation and portamento are possible, the waves can be transposed to 3 octaves. The VCF contains ADSR, CutOff, Resonance, EG-intensity and LFO Modulation, the VCA ADSR, LFO-Modulation and a Selektor. The LFO is available in sawtooth, sinus and square. (source: synth db)
