The W2 Sound System, manufactured by Gibson / Maestro in 1967, is an effects processor with programmed sounds for 10 voices. The voices are Fuzz tone, Cello, Tuba, Bass Sex, Bass Clarinet, Bassin, English Horn, Oboe d'amors, Muted Horn, Natural Amp. These can be set to bass or treble. The device also offers tremolo. It has been used by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and Kraftwerk, among others.
The W2 Sound System consists of organ circuits: frequency dividers to attenuate the signal by one octave (8′) or two octaves (16′), fixed low-pass, high-pass and band-pass filters as well as a fuzz circuit.
