Arp AXXE Analog Synthesizer Model 2312
The instrument
The AXXE was a rather inexpensive monophonic synthesizer produced by Arp to complement the slightly older Odyssey. It is equipped with a three-octave keyboard, the standard for a monosynth from the mid-70s, and with just one VCO, one LFO, one VCF and one ADSR envelope generator.
Details
The Axxe is equipped with a three-octave keyboard, the standard for a monosynth from the mid-70s. The VCO can be modulated by the LFO with sine and square wave options, the ADSR envelope generator and sample & hold. It offers triangle and square waveforms as well as noise. The low-pass VCF has frequency and resonance controls and can be set to self-oscillate to generate a sine wave. In addition to the LFO and ADSR envelope, an externally connected pedal, keyboard CV or S&H can also influence the filter as a modulation source, while the VCA serves as a volume control for the entire synthesizer. The ADSL is a four-stage element for attack, decay, sustain and release.
