The instrument
The X7000 is a 61 key sampling keyboard released from Akai in 1986. He is similar in style and format to the E-mu Emax, Ensoniq Mirage, EPS and Roland S-10 sampling keyboards. He has about the same sampling features as the rack-mount Akai S-900.
Details
Variable 12-bit sampling up to 40kHz, 128K RAM for storing only a few seconds worth of samples and a complete suite of basic sample editing functions including looping, auto-looping, truncating, multi-sampling and re-sampling capabilities, tuning and so on. It even features a few dedicated parameter buttons above the keyboard for quick access to the LFO and other modulations. The X7000 holds 6 samples. Each sample can have a sample rate of between 4 kHz and 32 kHz, and memory is split between the 6 samples. At the lowest sample rate, the maximum time per sample is 8 seconds, and lowering the sample rate will increase the amount of time available. (Sources: Synth db, Wikipedia)
