The AKG D 112 was launched in the late 1980s for creating bass drum and bass guitar sounds.
"This microphone's assets include absolute freedom from distortion, a very low diaphragm resonance fre quency' a relatively narrow-band pre sence rise at 4 kHz, The D 112 gives a bass drum a lot of presence without much equalization. High energy low bass below 100 Hz pro vides power, the boosted mid and clean high frequencies above 10 kHz keep the bass drum and bass guitar clearly distinguishable within the mix. A built -in windscreen enables the D 112 to be used for low pitched horns such as the trombone and tuba as well."
