The instrument
The Roland Rhythm Plus PB-300 was designed as an accompaniment device for the HP-300 and HP-440 pianos, the first of Roland's digital pianos to feature MIDI integration. It was the last fully analog drum machine from Roland.
Details
The PB-300 has 16 preset rhythms as well as a fill-in beat control with which a break can be inserted every 2, 3, 8, 12 or 16 bars. The volume of the rhythms can be varied using the Accent control. The 8 sounds are: Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Low Tom, High Tom, Cymbal, Open Hi-Hat, Closed Hi-Hat and Clave. A keyboard can be connected via midi and trigger bass lines, arpeggios or chords together with the rhythm.
