The instrument

In 1980, Crumar entered into a cooperation with Nyle Steiner of Steiner Parker to develop the Masters Touch Breath Controller and to bring the EVI Electronic Valve Instrument Synthesizer (1974) to the market. The Masters Touch is an electronic wind instrument that combines breath controller, bite controller and touchpad.

Details

The Masters Touch is a breath controlled resonant analog low pass filter. It is also a unique CV controller, putting out voltage from breath, bite, and touch. In addition to its function as a CV/gate controller, it also processes audio signals using a breath controller and resonant filter. As the blowing strength increases, the filter opens and the resonance and volume increase. A hose is supplied for blowing in the air.
