Yamaha RX-21L Digital Rhythm Programmer

The instrument

After the first digital drum computers RX-11 and RX-15, Yamaha launched the RX-21 in 1986, a model for beginners. It was reasonably priced, but its possibilities were severely limited compared to the earlier models. The maximum resolution of the sequencer was only 1/32nd, the number of sounds was reduced to nine, whereby the cymbal sounds were significantly shortened and no variations of the individual sounds were possible. In 1987, the RX-21 was supplemented by the RX21L, whose samples focused on Latin American sounds. (Source: Amazona)
