VEB Vermona Piano-Strings Analog Synthesizer

The instrument

Since 1977, the GDR label VEB has been developing electric pianos to complement its range of organs: the electric piano and the piano strings. These polyphonic instruments based on transistors create the tones of 5 octaves using 12 oscillators and a frequency divider circuit.

Details

In addition to the oscillators and the frequency divider, the piano strings is equipped with the U 112 divider circuit, a proprietary development. The instrument has three sections for sound colours and effects: Strings for cello, viola and violin, percussion for piano, clavichord and spinet and effect for chorus. The sustain changes the decay of the envelope. Unlike the electric piano, the piano strings have no tremolo. The equipment includes a volume pedal.
