VEB Vermona Formation 3 Analog Synthesizer + ER 9 Drum Machine
The instrument
The two-manual Formation 3 organ is similar in construction to the Formation 2, which was the first model in this series to be launched in 1979. It also has a two-stop bass pedal with 17 keys, a guitar bass stop, sustain and pedal percussion and a built-in ER 9 drum machine. In addition, solo tones are built in instead of string tones. The ER 9 was also available as a single model from 1976.

Like the Formation 2, the Formation 3 is equipped with two manuals. The upper manual has 6 courses for flutes 16‘ - 8’ - 5 1/3‘ - 4’ - 2‘ - 1 3/5’, with 6-course percussion and the solo stops Clarinet, Oboe and Nasal. The lower manual has 6 courses for Flutes 8‘ - 4’ - 2 2/3‘ - 2’ - 1 3/5‘ - 1’. The instrument also has sine percussion, percussion decay time and brilliance tone colour control registers, volume equalisation, a sum control for each register group, a phaser that can be adjusted for the sine group, the percussion group and brilliance, as well as a reverb. The bass pedal is 2-course 16‘ and 8’.
The rhythms of the ER 9 are March, Tox, Shuffle, Bossa Nova, Rumba, Beguine, Samba, Cha Cha, Tango, Rock, Beat 1 + 2, Slow Beat, Slow Rock, Waltz, Slow Waltz.
