Synton G-23 Cardioid Microphone

The instrument

The Synton G-23 is a piezo-electric microphone.
The company Synton A.G. was based in Zurich. It filed patents for piezo-electric transducers in 1943 and 1944. This type of transducer exploits the piezo-electric effect. If a voltage is applied to a piezo-electric crystal, it deforms. In doing so, it follows an applied oscillation signal.

Details

The Synton is a crystal microphone in a metal housing. The directional characteristic is omnidirectional, the frequency range approx. 70 Hz to 12 kHz, the impedance high impedance.  The dimensions are 60 mm x 142 mm x 40 mm, the weight is 260 g.
