The instrument

Korg released the WD-1 Wavedrum with a yellow rim in 1993-1994 and probably produced around 3000 units. In 2009, the second version WD-X with a black rim came onto the market. The purchase of the RE1 programmer was recommended, as programming is quite difficult.
The outer ring is made of light, polished bird's eye maple for the top, in which an elliptical small two-digit display is incorporated, and silver-colored plastic for the base. This is followed by a solid cast aluminum hoop, and finally the head (Legacy by Remo) in the middle. An additional RIM, a kind of metal ring with another pickup, is attached to the hoop with screws and then connected to the wavedrum with a cable. The instrument weighs almost eight kilos and measures 39x39x12 centimeters.

Details

The WD-1 has 100 programs (10 programs in 10 banks) and 62 algorithms. There are two separate rotary switches in the front part of the housing for program and bank selection.
