The instrument
The Analog Ibanez UE-700 released in 1978 is a multi-effects rack unit, one of the first to be released to the market, housing flanging, phasing, compression and distortion effects. It was a significant contribution to making a touring musician's life easier. Peter Gabriel used an Ibanez UE-700 as part of his live rig on the "Tour of China 1984" (1980). "Each UE-700 is hand built from meticulously selected components for the utmost reliability and performance. A very limited number of these units will be available and allow us to inform you that they are rather expensive. " (Ibanez brochure,1979) The UE-700's limited quantities were of no matter since it was followed very quickly by the UE400 (1980) and UE405 (1981), which had the advantage of lower prices and larger available quantities.
Details
The UE-700 neatly consolidates five effects in a rack: Phaser, Compressor, Distortion, Flanger and 10-band Equalizer, all operated by the special FC Foot Controller.
