Elgam Carousel Analog Synthesizer and Drum Machine

The instrument

The Carousel synthesiser with drum machine was launched in 1976 by the Italian brand Elgam as a one-off. An integrated rhythm section with automatic accompaniment was unusual in the mid-1970s. Rhythm presets were used for organs at best.

The Carousel with a keyboard of only 25 keys offers 15 rhythms that can be varied. It features 3 different arpeggiators, adjustable in decay and volume. The bass can be added and varied. In addition, 3 polyphonic chord patterns are available as well. Each range, drums, bass, chords and arpeggiator, can be independently controlled in volume.
