The BINSON ECHOREC 2 T5E appeared in 1957 / 1958 with a "golden" finish, and in 1960 in black. It was one of the earliest tube echoes. It was preceded by the Binson Echorec T5E from 1957.
The Binson Echorec works on the principle of analogue sound recording. The sound signal of the connected musical instrument is recorded by the recording head on a magnetisable metal disc with a diameter of around 10 cm. By rotating the metal disc, the recorded signal reaches the playback head with a time delay. The echo effect is created by mixing the time-delayed playback signal with the original signal.
