Roland PAD-8 Octapad Midi Drum Pad Controller

The instrument

The Roland PAD-8 Octapad is a midi controller with extensive editing options, but without built-in sounds. In addition to the 8 pads, 6 more pads can be connected to the jack sockets. This is enough for the drums of a large drum set. It is possible to stack several octapads. Two jack sockets are provided for foot switches that either send a program change command via Midi or switch the 4 patches that can be programmed into the Octapad. The PAD-80 Octapad and the SPD 11 are direct successors.

Details

If the octapad is initialized, the factory settings that are set to TR 707, TR 909 or TR 727 can be called up. The parameters are: Midi channel (1-16), note number (0-99, probably because of the display no 128 values), the sensitivity of the pads (1-16), the tone curve (0-5), the minimum volume (0-64), which sets the quietest tone and the gate time (1-60) to set the time until the note off command is sent.
