The instrument

The KRP-77 rhythm machine from Korg was the answer to the TR-606 from market-dominating competitor Roland. This was shortly before analogue devices were replaced by digital ones.

Details

The eight sounds available on the KRP-77 are bass drum, snare, high and low toms, an open or closed hi-hat and a channel that shares cymbals and claps. There are no sound shaping options. The volume can be adjusted using faders. The drum machine's integrated sequencer stores up to 48 patterns in three banks, which can be combined into six songs.  (Source: Amazona)
