Korg 800 DV Maxi-Korg Electronic Synthesizer
The instrument
In 1974, the 800 DV Maxi-Korg followed the Mini-Korg-700, the first synthesiser from Keio / Korg, which had been released in 1973. In the same year, the 900PS preset synthesiser came onto the market, followed by the Korg 770 in 1976. 800 DV was produced for Univox under the name K-3. It was one of the few duophonic analogue synthesizers. DV stands for Dual Voice.
Details
The upper and lower halves of the Maxi-Korg 800DV each contain a complete and completely independent synthesiser voice, all components are duplicated. The VCF filter can be adjusted in frequency and resonance via sliders. The VCA section has a mini envelope with attack and percussion (decay). The VCO has six waveforms (sine, pulse 1, sawtooth, pulse 2, chorus and noise), a six-stage octave selector (64′ to 2′) and a separate sub-oscillator, which in turn has its own sawtooth oscillation (adjustable from 32′ to 2′) and a ring modulator. The 800DV therefore offers four oscillators. The signal of the main oscillator can be continuously mixed with the sub-oscillator using the potentiometer or mixer. Vibrato corresponds to a simple sine wave LFO, whereby speed, depth and normal/delay can be set. The bender allows you to control a separate delay. Portamento can be adjusted in speed and mode (fixed/variable). (Source: amazona)
