When the TK 5 appeared, Grundig was the world's most important manufacturer of tape recorders. The TK series (tape recorder case) replaced the Reporter series. The small and inexpensive TK 5 marked the transition to portable devices for a wide audience. The model was produced in several colors.
Details
The TK 5 is a magnetic tape recorder with a half-track, a running speed of 9.5 cm/s, reels of 150 mm Ø and 2 magnetic heads for erasing and recording/playback. The frequency range is 50... 10,000 Hz ± 5 dB. An amplifier is used for recording and playback. The built-in loudspeaker is permanent-dynamic with a high-impedance output before the output stage. The tubes are EF 86, ECC81, 2 x EL 42, EM 85, the semiconductors of the rectifier are E052/2, B250C90.
