Dynacord Percuter 8 Track Digital Drum Machine
The instrument
Dynacord launched the Percuter at the same time as a controller in the shape of a guitar, which drummers were supposed to play on stage. It was built by developer Hans-Peter Baumann, whose company BME released various analogue synthesizers such as the BE 700 in the 1970s and the Rattlesnake, an analogue rhythm machine, in 1983. He sold the device to Dynacord, which brought it onto the market in 1984 to meet the demand for digital sounds. Around 2000 units were sold.
Details
Eight channels for which the trigger signals and volume can be controlled. The samples are fed in using cartridges. The pitch can be adjusted in the master section. On the rhythm stick controller, the samples can be targeted with two pads and selected with a membrane switch. However, this is difficult to play. (Source: Sound & Recording)
